Sunil chettri - the new era
Now we all know that Indian Football is in new level.And the boy who lead this team is non other then AndraPradesh boy Sunil Chettri . who plays as a striker for Indian club Bengaluru FC and the Indian national team. Popularly known as "Captain Fantastic", he is both the most-capped player, and all-time top goalscorer for Indian national team, with 64 goals in 101 appearances.He helped India win the 2007 Nehru Cup, 2009 Nehru Cup, the 2012 Nehru Cup as well as the 2011 SAFF Championship. He was also one of India's best players during the 2008 AFC Challenge Cup in which India won the tournament and thus qualified for their first AFC Asian Cup in 27 years. He then led India in scoring during their short-lived campaign at the 2011 AFC Asian Cup with two goals. Chhetri has also been named AIFF Player of the Year four times in 2007, 2011, 2013 and 2014
Vice-President Sunil Chhetri is all smiles
Along with shouldering the hopes of Bengaluru FC and the Indian football team fans, Sunil Chhetri also serves as the Vice-President of the FPAI. FPAI President Renedy Singh was unable to make it to the ceremony.
Indian player of the year
Sunil Chhetri netted 34 times in the 2017-18 season for club and country across all competitions. No prizes for guessing the winner of the prestigious award.
Foreign Player Of The Year
Bengaluru FC's Venezuelan striker Miku's 20 goals in 24 appearances for the club helped him secure the title. Sunil Chhetri collected the award on behalf of him.
